The Jamal Powell Legacy Grant

Our flagship program is named in honor of Coach Jamal Powell - who is the inspiration for founding our  The Big Man Foundation. A young and up-and-coming coach, Coach Powell tragically passed away in Spring of 2021 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was 39 years old and is survived by his wife and their three young children.

Coach Powell continues to be the heartbeat behind everything that we do.

We seek to offer the support necessary for healing by walking alongside families and serving them in thoughtful, meaningful ways. We facilitate relationships between our coaches, their families, employers, and social service agencies to ensure that they are getting the best programs and resources available for whatever needs they have. Our goal is to provide meaningful grants to applicants most in need within our financial means.

BMF believes that after tragedy strikes all a family should have to worry about is overcoming it.
