What do they do at BMF?

Casey Kroll is the founder and President of the Big Man Foundation (BMF). As President, Kroll oversees day-to-day operations and works with the executive team to implement the organization's strategic vision. He is responsible for ensuring programs and services have the greatest possible impact on the coaches, athletes, and families that we serve.

What did they do before BMF?

Prior to starting The Big Man Foundation, Kroll spent four seasons as a college football coach. He served on the coaching staffs of Southern Methodist University from 2018-2020, Lamar University during their 2017 season and James Madison University during their 2016-2017 National Championship season.

Kroll was a member of the James Madison football team from 2011-15. He was a CAA Academic All-Conference selection and a member of the Hampshire Honor Society, as well as an Athletic Director's Scholar-Athlete Award Winner. In 2016, Kroll earned a Master of Public Administration degree from JMU. Kroll's concentration was in Nonprofit Studies, where he studied directly under BMF Secretary and Board Member, Dr. Jennifer Taylor. He recently graduated from SMU with a Master’s in Liberal Studies.

Why did they join BMF?

Kroll founded BMF after witnessing Jamal Powell fight for his life against a multitude of serious aliments. Powell was Kroll's college offensive line coach, his boss at JMU/Lamar/SMU, and his mentor.

Lou Chiccehitto

Treasurer & Programs Director

What do they do at BMF?

Lou is a founder, the Treasurer, and a Board Member of the Big Man Foundation (BMF). As Treasurer, Lou manages and oversees the financial affairs of the organization. This includes operating the accounts with our financial institution, reconciling bank statements, and managing our cash flow.

What do they do outside of BMF?

Prior to joining The Big Man Foundation, Lou has spent over five years coaching football and working for Young Life. Young Life is an international faith-based nonprofit that is founded on building relationships with young people on their turf. As an Area Director, Lou recruits & trains volunteers, fosters community, works with teams, raises that annual budget, and does direct ministry with high schoolers.

Since Young Life is all about relationships, coaching is the perfect marriage. Lou started his coaching journey while attending James Madison University, volunteering at a local high school for three years. After college, Lou spend the 2014 season with the JMU football team as the quarterbacks intern. In 2015, Lou go a job as an assistant coach at Liberty High School in Bealeton, VA, and has been there ever since, spending the last four years as the Offensive Coordinator.

Why did they join BMF?

As a close friend to Casey Kroll and a member of the JMU football community, Lou got to meet Coach Powell and witness the impact he's had on so many different circles. Lou believes Coach Powell's fight is one worth fighting. Lou believes in serving those in need, and through BMF, that's what we do.
